And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. Prayer
Dear Loving Father,
We come before You today, convicted by the power of Your Word and the call to reform our speech and spirit. Lord, forgive us for the moments when criticism has taken the place of compassion, when our words have wounded instead of healed. We recognize that the enemy rejoices when faultfinding dwells among us—but we want to make Your heart rejoice instead.
We pray, Lord, for a thorough reformation to begin within our homes, churches, and hearts. Let it start with us. Let every unkind word and sour attitude be surrendered at the foot of the cross. May our lips be governed by the law of kindness. Replace our harshness with gentleness, our fretting with faith, and our division with Your divine unity.
Fill us with the sweet, molding influence of the Holy Spirit. Let us wear Christ’s yoke joyfully, learning from Him who is meek and lowly in heart. May we stop burdening others with judgment and instead bear one another’s burdens in love.
We want our homes and churches to be places where angels hover, where Christ is welcomed, and where Your Spirit is not grieved but glorified. Make our minds like the mind of Christ, and help us to speak only what will impart grace to those who hear.
